Mr. Glavina has gained significant camp experience through participation in all aspects of camp life. He started off as a young camper in one of the foreign language camps and worked his way up the corporate leader. He worked as an animator and counselor, and later as a teacher of very young campers. In 2001 he became Camp/Program Director and has been in charge of camps at the Island of Youth – Obonjan since then. His work and leadership has been directly supported by hundreds of dedicated and innovative teachers, vigorous animators and counselors, and other staffers all coming from different European countries and United States.

Mr. Ivan Marsic,PhD, and professor mentor Mrs. Zlata Simic prepared and published basic lesson plans and innovative programs to be used in Eklata Camp. Using their exceptional expertise and rich experience their programmes are specifically tailored towards light, though intensive approach the summer camp demands.

Recent Masters Degree graduate of prestigious Wesley College (Dover, Delaware, USA) Tony is also certified lifeguard and Camp Eklata entertainment and counseling team leader. While getting his education in the United States he cooperated and exchanged programs and ideas with prominent American summer camps. Apart from his brilliant entertainment and counseling programs, he has been noticed as superb showman and entertainer.

Professional staff of all educational, creative, sports, and entertainment programs is a mix of highly educated, very competent and experienced team members from Europe and United States.Language classes and creative workshops are held in the morning hours and approach is quite different from classical school lesson plans. Therefore, the students are extremely interested and focused in each segment of the very active week.
Sports practice and trainings are held both in the morning and afternoon hours, and on some days in the evening times. The time between practices are used for sports classroom work (strategy, tactics, competitive advantages…). The approach and dynamics of the workouts and practices are tailored towards the age, pre-knowledge and already acquired skills and conditions. During the free time the professional staff also supervises the campers and pays the most undivided attention to their safety, accommodations, meals, and contacts with their parents. Campers are supervised 24 hours a day.

Except for teachers, workshop leaders, and coaches, animators are the ones who spend most time with the campers. When the classes and practices are done, animators take over. They are always the most popular ones in the camp and campers love them.

They supervise very imaginative, amusing, creative but safe exercises and games, both on land and at the sea. The campers always remember them with the smile on their faces for the ecstatic atmosphere they create, as well as unselfish help, laughter and love they give them every day. So, it is no wonder that campers correspond with them all year round.
